British-Brazilian choreographer Jean Abreu spends exactly half of his life in Brazil and the other half in Britain. Solo for two is the second solo production of a trilogy in which he explores his own identity in-between.
In the first solo Blood, made in collaboration with Gilbert and George, Jean focused on the inside of the body. Now Solo for Two focuses on the outward journey, and on the cycles of letting go and new beginning which characterize the experience of someone in-between different cultures and dance languages.
Jean Abreu choreographed his first work in 2003 and later that year was honoured with the Jerwood Choreography Award. Since then, his work has toured throughout the UK, Europe and Brazil including performances for London Dance Umbrella, the Royal Opera House and the Southbank Centre.
