Sound-artist-photographers Paul Ratcliff and Ben Challis combine their passion for naturally occurring sound recordings with images. Based either side of the lower reaches of the Pennines in Northern England, they explores the covert, forgotten, decaying and unnoticed in their art-works.

A Year in the Garden takes the natural history sounds from a suburban garden and re-frames these in a soundscape, foregrounding the wild creature sounds and relegating the human and familiar.

Grey Stone – Harewood. Imagine as your eyes slowly scan the landscape you also move through time, through the seasons. Imagine too that you can hear the wildlife and the weather also change. This is the mystical effect of the Grey Stone…

Giants is an exploration of the inner workings of a series of historic mills, uncovering a wealth of hidden rhythms, pulses and drones as the listener is taken on a journey into the fabric of each unique space.

Into the Pond uses hydrophones and surround recordings to recreate a dynamic tapestry of sound that exists above and below the surface of a reed pond in summer.
