Spring 2014

To a truly bumper season of performances and presentations across the three separate (and sometimes related) programmes Axis Arts Centre offers.

Not only are we offering five fantastic visiting writers from a range of writing practices in the CreativeWritingPlus programme, and five fascinating projects being profiled in the OpenSpace, but the Performance Programme features nine performances, including two of the most acclaimed theatrical performers we have ever been privileged to present (Gemma Whelan from Game of Thrones and the extra-ordinary Tim Crouch).

To get a full sense of the range of work we are presenting this season you really will need to look at our ‘Whats on‘ section to see the range of events on offer. To put it in a nutshell however, where else could you expect close encounters with writers working in journalism, poetry and short story writing, artists working in sound art, livecoding and video installation, new producers, practical arts researchers, and performance that takes you from dramatic intensity to dance and music improvisation, from two very different examples of ‘music driven’ theatre and top flight contemporary dance to some of this country’s leading theatre experimentalists, and a beautiful and insightful story told in a minibus somewhere in the Cheshire countryside?

We genuinely hope you can make the most of what’s on offer this season, and maybe even try out something a little beyond your ‘comfort zone’ – you really won’t be disappointed.
