Autumn 2014

…to the brand new season at Axis Arts Centre. Once again we’re presenting a
selection of top quality work by artists across the three strands of our activity –
The Performance Programme, The OpenSpace and CreativeWritingPlus.

The Performance Programme this season opens with a show-stopping Basset
Hound live on stage, straight from his international tour, followed by the follow-up
to last year’s stormin’ Axis Poetry Slam. After that we go from a nostalgic reimagining
of the American college sports hero to the latest from the frontman for
John Peel favourites Hefner, and from the ‘pitch-black and headphones’ follow-up
to Ring to the finest of fresh new contemporary dance.

And rounding off with a highly theatrical dance double bill, a wordless and beautiful
drama about two men in a shed, and a part stand-up, part social history solo in
two smaller regional venues, this season promises to touch all bases in a way that
we think is just about un-missable.

Alongside all of that CreativeWritingPlus, our programme of visiting writers,
focuses on three fine poets and their poetry, whilst the OpenSpace once again
brings creative writing off the page and into the exhibition space, before hosting
a growing archive of video work by some of the country’s top performance makers.

And if that’s not enough, we’ve even got our first free lunch-time concert by some
of Scotland’s finest singers.

So something for everyone, we think?

Hope to see you there…
