To an early spring season of some of the most innovative and high quality artists
from this country and abroad, working across theatre, dance, music, visual
practice and creative writing.
Four of the biggest names in contemporary theatre will take us from re-imagined
Shakespeare to theatrical Karaoke via some mad-cap comedy, beautiful scenographic
destruction and a staged meal, making our line-up one of the strongest
we’ve had in a long time.
In dance we offer an acclaimed dance improviser and teacher, a taster of the
young talent and diverse practices energising contemporary dance these days,
and two North West favourites collaborating with music improvisers with
unpredictable results. And in music we have the highly unusual combination of
piano, bass clarinet and experimental electronics, plus three international
improvisers ready to cook up some extraordinary sound experiences right in front
There is also a great diversity of artistic practice explored in the Axis OpenSpace
this season – from visual music to interactive technology – and three exciting new
writers visiting for CreativeWritingPlus, including two novelists and a writer who
designs digital writing games online.
So much to get excited about, and much that will reward those prepared to try
See you soon?
