Spring 2012

Welcome to five weeks of the best new theatre, dance, music and installation that we can lay our hands on. This season we are presenting one of the must-see performances from the Edinburgh Fringe (Me, Myself and Miss Gibbs) alongside some of most acclaimed musicians and performance makers in the country (The Apollo Saxophone Quartet, Wendy Houstoun/Probe and Third Angel). We’ve got leading experimenters in the relationship between dance and live music (Stephanie Schober), and in the potential of performed writing and sound (Claire Hind). We have brought an extra-ordinary new performance company over from Spain (Sleepwalk Collective), as well as presenting the point where jazz piano and new technology meets (Second-Handed Blues). We’re documenting ‘food practice’ in the Open Space (Jenny Lawson) followed by one of the most fascinating combinations of dance, sculpture and amateur carpentry you could ever imagine (Leen Dewilde). And for a whole week we have got hold of one of the most intense and immersive individual artistic experiences you will ever encounter (And The Birds Fell From The Sky). Or put another way, it’s where gastronomy meets art, where cartography and history meet theatre, where theatre meets dance, where dance meets music, where music meets technology, where technology meets words, where words meet dance, where dance meets furniture, where music meets film, and where film meets theatre and you, at Axis this season.

Isn’t it time to try something new?

See you soon
