Autumn 2012

Welcome to the new season at the Axis Arts Centre, and a mixture of the finest cutting edge performance and arts practices around.

This season we have international dance theatre of a kind you won’t have experienced before (A Talk), theatre made for a pitch black room (Ring), about the biggest and best saxophone sound you’ll hear in this country (SaxAssault), two artists living in the OpenSpace (Bob & Lee), the best graduate dancers in the North West choreographed by three stunning dance artists (12° North), avant-garde music from Scotland’s finest string quartet (Edinburgh Quartet), a fantastic performance piece by GETINTHEBACKOFTHEVAN (my all-time favourite company name), two top writers working with projections and live organ (David Gaffney), a multi-artist exhibition on the global impact of bread (Inês Armado), a chance walk through a real and virtual world (Nick Donovan) and about the funniest two men in a theatre studio (New Art Club).

On top of that we’re working with Cheshire Rural Touring Arts to bring innovative arts to the wider county (Cutting Hedge – geddit?) and are delighted to present the new piece by Axis favourites Rediculusmus in two fantastic smaller venues in Congleton and Cuddington.

I do hope you can catch at least some of what promises to be a particularly fascinating and enjoyable season.
