Spring 2013

Welcome to the only corner of the country where spring starts in January…

But it’s a seriously ‘bumper’ season this time, that begins with a show called The Beginning (what else), and includes within it a whole festival of international improvised dance.

As well as that, there are two major pieces of cutting-edge drama courtesy of Paines Plough and imitating the dog, an extra-ordinary combination of piano and electronics from America, the very lovely Pigeon Theatre, Michael Pinchbeck and juice Vocal Ensemble are all coming back, and we are delighted to present another fantastic Cutting Hedge performance away from our normal Crewe base.

But our very own dance festival Process:Product is our biggest break with tradition, and represents a unique and extra-ordinary combination of improvisation-based dancers from the US, India and the UK. With three consecutive nights of performance and a whole week of events in the OpenSpace this is one event that you need to make space in your diary for.

So for frolicking lambs, daffodils and a nasty bout of Hay-fever (not really), get out to Axis Arts Centre before the rest of the country cottons on…

See you there,
Neil Mackenzie
Artistic Director
