Ethics and the Video Portrait
Mon 1st - Fri 5th Feb 2010
Mon-Fri 9am-4pm : Axis Open Space : Free

Research using visual materials is riddled with complex ethical issues. Consent forms, release proformas and the ethics procedures used in arts based research are made more problematic across linguistic and cultural boundaries. Artist and documentary maker Rory Francis examines these ideas through his unwitting transgressions whilst filming an arts organisation in Luxembourg.

Curating Knowledge is an exhibition series for and about research-led arts practice - it's processes, materials, methodologies, encounters and interactions. Here the Open Space serves as judicious platform for much that goes un-seen in a conventional gallery, providing a forum for artists to continue to develop work as part of ongoing research activities whilst engaging with lively interaction, exchange and open debate.
